LOUELLA BY IBTIHAJ is a family owned and operated direct-to-consumer fashion brand, founded by US Olympic fencer Ibtihaj Muhammad in 2014. Named one of TIME Magazine's '100 Most Influential People' of 2016, Ibtihaj is most notably the first American athlete to win an Olympic medal in hijab.
Never afraid to raise her hand and think outside of the box, the inspiration for LOUELLA began when Ibtihaj and her sisters, Asiya and Faizah, were young girls struggling to find modest contemporary clothing that didn’t require the need for excessive layering. From these early childhood moments, a concept was born:
“LOUELLA BY IBTIHAJ endeavors to deliver a fresh, vibrant, and affordable take on modest fashion in the women’s apparel market.”
For our consumers, modesty is not just a trend, it is a way of life. Taking inspirational cues from luxury fashion houses, our silhouettes are modern, functional, and stylish. We create easy-to-wear pieces to help provide intimacy and a safe space in which to develop and nurture one's true self. Pieces perfect for providing a loose and forgiving silhouette which not only feels cool but also avoids restricting our bodies and the way we move.
Also, all LOUELLA BY IBTIHAJ pieces are manufactured in the United States. For us, it’s not only about filling a void within the fashion industry, but changing our communities as well. When you buy domestic, you’re helping to create jobs locally and doing your part to contribute to a cleaner environment.
Conscious clothing. Why not?
